Selena Gomez Was Not Lip Syncing At Jingle Ball - Find Out The Truth
Selena Gomez got caught up in a bit of a lip syncing scandal at LA’s Jingle Ball over the weekend – but The Hot Hits Live From LA hosts Dave Styles and Maude Garrett are here to explain exactly what happened. To make it clear: she was not lip syncing.
Our man Dave Styles also works for KIIS FM in LA, and he was doing all the on stage announcing for the Jingle Ball. He was side of stage when Selena performed, and on Sunday on The Hot Hits Live From LA he told co-host Maude Garrett truth about the incident.
And it all comes down to her in ears, which artists use to listen to themselves sing while they’re performing.
Dave told Maude, “The ear pieces inside - they’re called in ears - they were having issues, I don’t know if they were off or just too loud sometimes. So she had to pull them off. So she couldn’t really hear.
“A lot of people I’ve noticed saying that she lip synced, and I can tell you she did not lip sync. She was not lip syncing. But she did come out and say ‘sorry we’re having audio issues’. The audio issues she was referring to were the in ear things.”
But what about the video that shows her swearing? That did happen, and Dave saw it all.
Dave said, “What happened is, the first song stopped, the lights kind of went quiet for a minute, she walked to the back of the stage and she yelled ‘What the ****!’ And unfortunately that was still on mic. The best part was, after all that, you can clearly tell she’s mad. The lights came back on and she had to smile.”

Selena Gomez returned to her home state to rock the Dallas Cowboys-Oakland Raiders halftime show.
The 21-year-old pop star, who hails from Grand Prairie, Texas, hit the stage at AT&T Stadium on Thanksgiving day rocking gold gladiator sandals, a fringe leather skirt, and a mesh and leather bodysuit, singing a medley of her latest hits.
She kicked off her performance with “Walk Like A Champion,” shaking her hips around the stage with a group of dancers, before stripping down to red leather hot pants to croon her last song “Come & Get It.”
The Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders also joined in for the performance, dancing around the stage as Gomez sang.
"Happy Thanksgiving!," she said, breathlessly, after finishing the show.
The singer’s performance marked the beginning of the Salvation Army’s 123rd annual Red Kettle Campaign, a holiday drive that provides toys, food and shelter for families in need.
"Proud to be performing for a great organization today during the @DallasCowboys game. Support @SalvationArmyUS," Gomez tweeted earlier Thursday, along with a link to her video for the charitable campaign.
After it was announced that Gomez would be performing at the halftime show, the Getaway star said, “I’m from Texas, so I’m a little nervous, I’m not going to lie. But I’m very honored and I hope that we come—me, my dancers and my band—and we give Texas a really good show and I make them proud.”
What did you think of Selena’s performance?
Recording artists Selena Gomez was the halftime performer to kick off the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle campaign.
There was more that went into the selection than her voice. Charlotte Anderson, the Cowboys executive vice president and chief brand officer, said the Cowboys and the Salvation Army wanted someone who can inspire a new generation to give.
“Particularly this year, clearly with Selena Gomez, the whole concept is to mobilize a younger generation,’’ said Anderson, who is also the first woman chair of the Salvation Army’s National Advisory Board. “This generation is yards ahead of us in terms of how they communicate. She is the perfect person to go to when you’re trying to reach that generation.’’
The Red Kettle Campaign has raised $1.75 billion since it began in 1997. The goal this year is to raise $150 million.
“If we can inspire people to give and help the Salvation Army, then we can help people one step at a time and really help address significant problems,’’ Anderson said.
